If you’re like me, seeing animals play immediately evokes joy. This is especially true of horses rolling and romping in the snow. I like to think of them as making snow angels. All images in this piece were captured at or near my brother’s ranch in Hermosa, South Dakota; a place that has always been associated with peace and serenity with all its quiet space and softly falling snow. I find that beauty is most often found in silence. Philosopher Francis Bacon quoted “silence is the sleep that nourishes wisdom”. I feel we could all use a lot more silence.
