This piece was inspired by Winter Solstice and all that comes with it, including seasonal depression. All images were taken in Colorado; the tree/moon was shot in December on the Winter Solstice at Castlewood Canyon. I love winter and the beauty of its transformation, but I also relish the thought of the days getting longer. I feel a little like the hidden sapling in the frozen grass, waiting to thaw in the sun’s rays. With that said, I try always to appreciate the moment I’m in by thinking of what summer might bring in terms of heat and fires. That helps me come to terms with the chill of winter.
